Welcome to all new members for the 2008-2009 school year...

and congratulations! You're almost there and summer is right around the corner! We have a fantastic
year ahead and I know you have questions. Here is some information that will be helpful.

The beginning of the year: MARCHING BAND!

Marching band is without a doubt one of the great joys of high school band and always provides some of the
fondest memories of high school. Every band member is automatically a part of the Marching Warriors and will
participate in football games, pep rallies and other special events. Rehearsals will be primarily during class plus a
rehearsal prior to each of approximately 7 football games. You will have a ton of fun with 150 Marching Warriors!

In addition to the Marching Warriors, there will also be a Competition Band that will travel to competitions in the
FMBC an BOA competition circuits. Our band has become one of the top bands in the state and we love competing!
Most Marching Warrior members will be in this band, but there will be a basic try-out at the end of Rookie Camp.
Rehearsals for the Competition Band will be Tuesday & Thursday from 5pm to 8:30pm. There will be a few
Saturday "Mini Camps" to polish our show for competition. See the Calendar for dates.

    Jazz Band!

JJazz Band at Jupiter High School is a selected group of musicians and is open to all members of the band program
on audition basis. In most cases you must be in another band class in order to be in the jazz band. Excpetion
are made and are at the discretion of the band director.

    Color Guard & Winter Guard

The Color Guard (Marching Guard) and Winter Guard adds much of the visual impact to the marching show and
utilizes a combination of dance, choreography, spinning flags, rifles and sabres. Members must be enrolled in the
Guard Class (Intermediate Band) to participate. Guard is open to all students whether thay play an instrument or not.

    Concert Ensembles

There are three concert ensembles: Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. Membership in a
particular ensemble is determined by the Director based on each students skills and reccomendation from their
    middle school Director.
